Introduced in 1944 to counter the superior firepower and heavier armor of the German Tiger and Panther tanks, the M36 was fitted with a 90mm M3 gun, riding in an open turret. Recalled to acton in the Korean War, they went on to serve with a number of other armies world-wide, some as late as the early 2000s!
